Holland & Barrett trains women’s health coaches

High street health giant, Holland & Barrett, is to give in-store advice on women's health.

The retailer, which has stores in Cirencester, Stroud, Cheltenham, Gloucester and Tewkesbury, has trained 600 staff to act as women's health coaches, as reported by The Guardian.

Holland & Barrett (H&B) is investing £3m into its women's health offer, which includes the cost of training staff members on the menstrual cycle, as well as nutrition, gut health, mood and sleep.

The new coaches will wear badges and customers are able to book appointments with them either face-to-face or online.

The retailer commissioned its own research with YouGov on women's health, with 100,000 responses. It found gynaecological conditions were the biggest concern, with nearly one in three women saying they were given information on their cycle and hormones "when at school, or not at all".

H&B said being on every high street makes it the ideal destination to normalise conversations around women's health, from periods to menopause and everything in between.

It added that women were still not getting support in a lot of aspects of health and this gap has never been filled on the high street before.
